The lowdown on subwoofers
Article Abstract:
Subwoofers, loudspeakers whose output is at the extreme low end of the frequency spectrum, are a necessary complement to bookshelf-sized speakers, whose bass may otherwise be unsatisfying. Output from paired subwoofers is generally more natural-sounding than output from a single subwoofer.

Taking up resonance: finding room modes on your computer
Article Abstract:
The resonance modes of a listening room are the key variables affecting speaker placement, especially for subwoofers. A BASIC language program to measure these modes from input information on room dimensions is provided.
