McLean recounts his experiences at Motown from his first $50 dollars-a-week job. He stresses the creativity involved on the technical side to get the most sound out of the limited technology available in the early Motown days. Recollections of Motown legend Berry Gordy are included.

19 bits in a 16-bit sack
Article Abstract:
The music industry is increasingly using noise shaping to transfer 20-bit master tapes to the 16-bit CD format with little loss in quality. Dubbed '19-bit equivalent' recordings, these CDs offer better resolution, less noise, and better transparency than regular CDs.
