Reference Recordings claims that its HCDC is indeed warmer and more realistic than author D.W. Fostle allows, and that Fostle should have listened to analog masters before writing. Fostle says that actual sounds, not analog masters, should be the reference source, and defends his conclusions.

The 135-year-old music hall was restored in the mid 1970's, and has become a popular sound recording site for high-profile classical artists such as Yo Yo Ma. The sonic and acoustic properties of its interior wood, plaster and brick construction are analyzed.
