Technics' $999.95 RS-DC10 DCC deck features an outstanding control layout, which makes it the simplest currently available DCC unit to use. The recordings it makes from digital sources are indistinguishable from originals, but access time is slow, and the high price will limit sales.

Optimus DCT-2000 DCC recorder

Article Abstract:

Tandy Corp's Radio Shack retail stores are marketing this pioneering, $700 consumer DCC deck, which features PASC digital data-reduction and analog cassette playback. Listening tests revealed little audible difference between the Optimus and CDs.
