A disturbing link to the 'mad cow' disease
Article Abstract:
The British government admitted in Mar 1996 that eating meat of cows infected with mad cow disease is the most likely explanation for the deaths of 8 people. After eating the beef, the people developed Creutzfeldt-Jacob disease, which usually causes death within 12 months.

Dow Corning's retreat
Article Abstract:
Dow Corning Corp has announced that it is permanently withdrawing from the business of manufacturing silicone-gel breast implants. Government agencies in Canada and the US had put a moratorium on the use of such implants because of health concerns.
