A master sinks Deep Blue

World Chess champion Garry Kasparov defeated the IBM supercomputer dubbed Deep Blue in Feb 1996, by winning three games. The computer won one game and there were two ties. Although computer chess programs can now outmatch most players, the top champions still have an edge over their digital opponents.

A visionary search: doctors may soon solve glaucoma's mysteries
