A publisher out of sync with the times: some of Canada's top journalists hone their skills thanks to the courage of the Brandon Sun's Lew Whitehead

Whitehead, publisher of the Brandon Sun for many years, died in Aug 1996. The Brandon Sun was one of the last independent newspapers in Canada when Whitehead sold the paper in 1986. Many prominent Canadian journalists got their start at the paper, which emphasized quality and integrity.
