A season of deaths: tragedy plagues a resource-rich Alberta reserve
Article Abstract:
Six young Indian people died in the Summer of 1997 from deaths in which alcohol paid a part. In spite of mineral royalties, the reserve has a $5.6 deficit, plus poverty, unemployment, alleged corruption, alcohol abuse and violence. Some blame government handouts for sapping the drive of the people.
