AMR narrowly dodges bankruptcy

AMR Corp., which accepted the resignation of Donald Carty, has reached an agreement with its unions to cut $1.8 billion in salaries and benefits. AMR, which is the parent company of American Airlines, will avoid filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection through the deal.
