Microsoft shuffles for customers
Article Abstract:
Microsoft CEO Bill Gates announced on Mar. 29, 1999, that the company is restructuring into five units that include groups specializing on corporate information technology. The move is not intended to pre-empt any court-ordered breakup, according to Gates and Steve Ballmer, the company's president. Ballmer stressed that Microsoft's restructuring will not include any layoff, although staff members might be dismissed by some of the units.
