Afghanistan refuses to turn in bin Laden
Article Abstract:
UN-sponsored economic sanctions against Afghanistan for its refusal to extradite indicted terrorist Osama bin Laden for prosecution will most likely take effect as scheduled on Nov 14, 1999. The sanctions, which are meant to pressure Afghanistan into eventually handing over bin Laden to a country where he has been indicted, require UN member states to deny flying rights to any aircraft owned, leased or operated by or on behalf of Afghanistan's ruling Taliban government and to freeze Taliban assets.
