Canadian Air traffic jumps in September

Article Abstract:

Canadian Airlines International Ltd., an air carrier headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, expects to post a slight profit for its fiscal 1998, ending December 31, 1998. The improved prospects of the financially-beleaguered company was spurred by a 17% increase in passenger traffic in September 1998. The firm received more than expected passengers on account of the strike that affected rival carriers such as Northwest Airlines as well as Air Canada. The airline has expressed optimism that the new business generated by the strike of their competitors will lure customers back to its planes.

CAI raises concerns by postponing meeting

Article Abstract:

Canadian Airlines International Ltd's decision to postpone its annual meeting has been criticized by financial analysts. According to them, the delay demonstrates the actual state of the financially-troubled company and that it was made to buy time. However, the Calgary-based firm denied the allegations and said that it has delayed its meeting to Jun 29, 1999, to give itself time to come up with a good business plan to present to its shareholders.
