Alberta mall law firm withdraws
Article Abstract:
McLennan Ross, the law firm that represents West Edmonton Mall in a C$450-million lawsuit filed by Alberta Treasury Branches (ATB) against the mall and its owners, has withdrawn from the case. The law firm, which formerly defended ATB in 1994, decided to back out after ATB recommended that the firm should be disqualified from defending the mall and its owners, the Ghermezian brothers, because of a conflict of interest. However, a spokesperon for the mall said McLennan Ross' withdrawal from the case would not prevent the mall from pursuing a countersuit against the bank.

Are we getting hosed at the pumps?
Article Abstract:
Canada's oil companies dispute allegations that they are colluding to keep petroleum prices high. They say the petroleum refining and retailing business is so competitive that any suggestion of a cartel is dubious. Industry analysts share the view, saying gas stations have to add convenience stores, car washes and other services to stay afloat. Analysts say that there is simply too many gas stations across Canada.
