Are the environmental benefits of electric vehicles being oversold?
Article Abstract:
Debate over the environmental benefits of electric automobiles separates automotive traditionalists from future-thinking realists. The former group claims that gasoline fuel cars are becoming more efficient, producing less emissions than they once did and far superior to electrics in terms of performance and options. The latter group claims that the US's dependance on foreign oil could be significantly lessened if electric cars were used. They point out that the transportation sector accounts for nearly two-thirds of all the oil used in the US, and that if 22% of today's cars were electric it would save one million barrels of oil per day.

The Tailhook convention ... more than just 'boys being boys'
Article Abstract:
Sexual harassment charges against US Navy aviators for their behavior at the 1991 Tailhook Convention has sent shockwaves throughout the Navy Department. The repercussions from this incident will affect the Navy's previously indifferent treatment of women who are sexually assaulted. The Navy has been reluctant to seriously consider the allegations of victims, citing the traditional rowdiness of Naval aviators as a basis for justifying the incident.

Sexual harassment
Article Abstract:
The sexual harassment of women is an issue which continues to plague the military. The large number of cases can be attributed to the basic premise involving the concept of a military combat force. The training of men in combat skills involves a great amount of masculinity which in turn fuels the sexual drives of soldiers. Unfortunately, these drives are then transferred to women who bear the brunt of these often lewd advances.
