Vegetarian diets can be lower in saturated fats and higher in fiber than diets including meat; however, being a vegetarian while the body is still developing could be unhealthful. Recommendations for a healthy diet for teens includes taking in more calcium than others to protect bones, and adding vitamin B12 to prevent nerve damage and anemia.
