Industry analysts have speculated for months about a possible merger between Bank of Montreal and Toronto, Ont.-based Bank of Nova Scotia. But bankers and industry analysts now believe that major mergers in the Canadian banking industry may be postponed for about three years due to financial and political turmoil.
