Kim Beazley, who is the Labor voters' choice to topple Prime Minister, John Howard, feels that he would have handled Australian involvement with the United States in relation to Iraq in a better way so that the people of Australia would have felt secure and respected. Kim Beazley respects the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and is proud of the work done by them and their achievements.

Australian politician Peter Andren, who is the only Independent Member of Parliament in the Australian House of Representatives, is outspoken in his assessment of the top candidates in the 2001 election campaign. He believes that Prime Minister John Howard is in in control, but calculating, and opposition Kim Beazley, is a good person, but weak.
