Management buyout (MBO) has changed its high-risk image in Australia and has increasingly become a viable and legitimate way for corporations to dispose of assets. MBO is attracting the country's largest financiers as the market is quickly growing in equity capacity. Upwards of A$1 bil has been dispatched to the MBO equity pool since the beginning of 1998, but some executives worry this growth has exceeded the supply of quality deals.

Michael McKenna, the new executive director of the Financial Planning Association of Australia, wants to improve public awareness of the meaning of the certification, the way the public instantly recognize a CPA as a Certified Practising Accountant.
