Biomira breast cancer vaccine shows positive results
Article Abstract:
Biomira Inc.'s pre-Phase III clinical trial of its cancer vaccine Theratope in women with advanced breast cancer has shown favorable results. Biomira reported that 27 out of the 28 patients injected with the new Theratope formulation acquired antibody response to the vaccine following two treatments. While, 29% of the 21 patients who were injected three vaccinations developed a higher antibody response. Biomira President and Chief Executive Officer Alex McPherson said the results indicate that the new Theratope formulation is able to safely generate a strong immune response. If the Phase III clinical trials continue to show positive results, Edmonton, Alberta-based Biomira, with partner Chiron Corp., can file for fast-track approval to market Theratope.

Oralife misrepresented his research: Dentist
Article Abstract:
Oralife Group Inc's Chlorzoin drug does not significantly reduce tooth decay, according to an affidavit filed by American dentist Walter Bretz with the General Division of the Ontario Court. The Toronto, Canada-based company's alleged misrepresentation about the drug coincided with its move of floating a C$27-mil IPO in Mar 1999. The affidavit filed by Dr. Bretz supported a C$75-mil suit filed by Tom Balanyk, a Toronto dentist, and two stockholders against Oralife and its former directors, allegedly for breach of securities legislation.
