Blockbuster, Hollywood hope partnership is ok'd
Article Abstract:
Blockbuster Entertainment Corp and Hollywood Entertainment Corp, which command around 44% of video rentals across the US, hoped that their proposal to create a home video alliance receives approval from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Regulators expressed concern that the plan to convert Hollywood video stores into Blockbuster franchisees would result to higher prices or very low prices aimed at forcing remaining competitors to close down for business. Both companies are seeking for ways to clear the anti-trust challenges posed by regulators.
