Base metals are trading at record highs with three booms at one time, boosted by potential demand from emerging nations such as China and India. If the macro-economic imbalances of the US economy is not addressed and geopolitical tension in the Middle East increases further than oil prices would push up through dollar US70 per barrel resulting in base metal boom especially gold.

US will face economic problem in 2006 due to the investors falling out that could be due to the Iraq war and the immediate cause of Bush's loss of popular support. US dependence on foreign capital inflows to finance its $US800bn trade deficit, the expanding fiscal deficit and what looks to be an over-extended household sector, the US economy is uncommonly vulnerable.
