Bombardier lands jet deal with Lufthansa
Article Abstract:
Bombardier Inc. received on Sep. 17, 1998, orders from Deutsche Lufthansa AG of Germany for 10 of Canadair's new 70-seat Regional Jets (CRJs) and options on 10 more CRJs in a transaction worth $475 million. In addition, Lufthansa, which is a state-owned company, also tendered an order for 10 more 50-seat CRJs, thus boosting its fleet to 55 50-seat CRJs. With the Lufthansa order, Bombardier has now 51 orders for 70-seat CRJs, with the first delivery slated for early 2000. Lufthansa had been considered as a possible client for Fairchild Dornier USA's planned 90-seat and 70-seat regional jets.
