Taste of the times
Article Abstract:
The gourmet grocers in Australia in the 1990s are replacing chefs of the 1980s as the good quality food producers. When Simon Johnson opened his shop in Sydney's eastern suburbs in Nov 1998, the traffic jam prompted the police to move all the cars. Grocers acknowledge the lure of eating at home and take-home meals have become an important part of the business world.
