A poll shows that internet usage in Australia has increased in 1998. 4.2 mil Australians use the Internet at least once a month, an increase of over 50% from the previous year. Most Australians use the Internet at home, and e-mail is the most popular use among business people.

Big lead in small states

According to a poll conducted by The Bulletin-Morgan Poll, the Liberal government in South Australia looks set to lose to its conservative opposition in the 2001 state election. The loss will echo similar Liberal losses in Western Australia and Queensland's state elections.
