WebTV settles deceptive ad charges

WebTV Networks Inc, a Microsoft Corp's subsidiary that supplies Internet access equipment, will settle Federal Trade Commission's charges that advertising for its WebTV system was misleading. The settlement prohibits WebTV from making false advertising claims about the performance of its system. Also, it calls for clear disclosure of long-distance telephone charges and requires reimbursement for long-distance charges to former WebTV Internet service subscribers.

Railroad settles genetic-testing lawsuit
Article Abstract:
Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp announced on Apr 18, 2001, that chose to settle a federal lawsuit by agreeing to stop genetic testings of employees and promising not to discipline workers who have complained about the tests. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed suit on Fen 2001 against the company to block genetic testing of workers who submitted claims of work-related carpal tunner syndrome,a repetitive-motion injury.
