Cable firms told to carry French TV network
Article Abstract:
Cable television services providers in Canada have been ordered by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission to have TVA, a French-language television network, as a fixture in their service across Canada. The agency maintained that all cable television subscribers should be given access to the television network, in accordance with the provisions of the Broadcasting Act of Canada. The move reflects the efforts of the regulatory body to mirror the ethnically-diverse character of Canada's culture.
