Canada lauds move stalling missile shield

Canada and Russia lauded Pres. Clinton's decision not to approve the building of the first stage of the missile-defence system after two of its crucial tests failed. Canada's Defence Minister Art Eggleton and Canadian Alliance Leader Stockwell Day favor the scheme while Foreign Affairs Minister, Lloyd Axworthy, opposes it.

The International Space Station will be equipped with a new robotic arm called the Canadarm2. The $1.4 billion device, which was installed by a Canadian astronaut on the Endeavor space shuttle, was financed by the Canadian Space Agency.
