Cuban American National Foundation founder Jorge Mas Canosa was instrumental in getting the Clinton administration to pass the Helms-Burton bill, and he could have a great deal of power in a post-Castro Cuba. Canada, one of Cuba's main trading partners, should be anticipating the fall of Castro.

Pope John Paul II's historic visit to Cuba will be both a political and personal event for Cubans. Fidel Castro has eased religious repression, but only about 30% of Cubans are Catholics. No one in Cuba expects economic or social changes in the near term.
