This article describes the efforts of Australian sprinter Dean Capobianco to return to international competition after the end of a two-year ban imposed on him in May 1996 after he tested positive for steroid use. Relevant points include his current participation in the 400-meter Australian relay team, and his hopes of participating in further international events and the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

He plans to change the ASP from a fringe group into a mainstream player in the sports world. He has to unify separate contingents in the ASP who have negotiated conflicting broadcasting deals for surfing competitions.
