Celestica to make Asian foray with IMS purchase

Celestica Inc.'s planned $140-million acquisition of International Manufacturing Services Inc. (IMS) will take the Toronto, Ontario-based company to Asia. The deal, the company's biggest acquisition to date, will give the electronics manufacturer its first manufacturing facilities in Asia, particularly in China and Thailand. Celestica president and CEO Eugene Polistuck said the expansion is an absolute requirement for the company becuase many of its customers manufacture and sell products in the region. Polistick added the merger betweee Celestica and IMS is ideal because of little customer and geograhic overlap.

Calgary backed as exchange's home
Article Abstract:
The steering committee that is overseeing the proposed merger between the Alberta and Vancouver stock exchanges has recommended two separate sites for headquaters and operations. Under their proposal, the corporate head office will be located in Calgary, while Vancouver will host the operations center. The compromised solution will skirt the issue of where the real seat of power for the merger junior stock exchange will lie.
