Just a number? Net deal to track Web buys
Article Abstract:
DoubleClick Inc is set to merge with Abacus to create a company that will combine DoubleClick's extensive Internet market tracking system and Abacus' database of Web consumer shopping habits. The merger is expected to bolster e-commerce as the enhanced tracking system will help Web sites to better reach and maintain their target customer base. The consolidation should also promote DoubleClick's function, which was previously akin to selling contract advertising.

Dot-coms try naked truth advertising
Article Abstract:
Investment research firm Multex.com has launched a commercial presented in CNBC which features an office filled with naked employees who greet 'Mike,' a clothed stranger. Online software firm Beyond.com also launched an advertisement using nakedness to get viewers' attention. The message of the Multex ad is that investors are able to see through the veneer of the firm's investor relations personnel and that they are able to know what they are investing in.
