Condition critical: northern Ontario is reeling as hospital closures hit home

The Ontario Health Services Restructuring Commission announced plans to close hospitals in Sudbury and Thunder Bay as part of efforts to cut $1.3 billion from hospital funding by 1999. Hospital officials in Sudbury charge the commission failed to respect local concerns about health care quality.
