Lions Gate wants new deal with Moore

Lions Gate Entertainment Corp., co-distributor of Michael Moore's smash-hit Fahrenheit/911, hopes to do more business with the iconoclastic US filmmaker as it refocuses to concentrate on near-term profitability. Lions Gate in May 2004 joined two other companies to distribute Farenheit/911 after the US producer's parent company, Walt Disney Co., refused to handle Moore's creation.

Executive search firms finally get back on feet

Executive recruiter Caldwell Partners International Inc., a high-profile Toronto firm, is in focus as several shareholders have complained publicly about moribund returns and pushed for some of corrective action in 2004. Caldwell has fallen to a total of about $50-million (Canadian) in annual fee revenue form the $75-million to $80-million range before the plunge began.
