Confusion over NAB's CEO-elect

Article Abstract:

The National Bank of Australia (NAB) is sending mixed signals to the media and to market analysts about who will replace NAB's chief executive officer (CEO), Don Argus, when Argus retires in mid-1999. Argus favors longtime NAB executive Frank Cicutto to become the next CEO and industry insiders view Cicutto's appointment as a logical step. However, NAB has officially remained silent on the matter and some industry analysts say the bank is guilty of misleading the market.
