Current situation
Article Abstract:
AIDS education in the US is focused primarily on the need for populations at risk to modify their personal behavior for the prevention and control of the disease. Unfortunately, some findings show that education measures such as the use of condoms, sexual abstinence among teenagers and the maintenance of mutually monogamous relationships were either ignored by the vulnerable membersof the population or simply not disseminated properly. Nevertheless, the US government has undertaken policies to address the problem of increasing incidence of AIDS among the population in response to the demands of activists and pressure groups.

At issue: is irradiated food safe to eat?
Article Abstract:
Advocates and detractors of food irradiation have argued bitterly to protect their own positions regarding this technology. This has left consumers unable to decide exactly which side to believe. Supporters of food irradiation claim that opponents are being too emotional about the issue. They also explain that food irradiation is simply a process by which food is purified by ionizing energy. On the other hand, opponents of the process believe that there is just no scientific basis to conclude that irradiation of food is a safe process.
