Dana defends work conditions at Mexican plant
Article Abstract:
Dana Corp., an auto parts manufacturer based in Toledo, OH, said allegations by Canadian labor organizations of substandard working conditions at its brakes manufacturing plant in Itapsa, Mexico, have no basis in reality. Company officials also decried the campaign waged by the labor groups as politically motivated. The labor groups do admit that they are putting the Mexican plant under a microscope to dramatize their opposition to the labor component of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Dana inherited the Mexican plant from Echlin Inc., which sold the plant to Dana in summer 1998.
