The Iraqi leader, Saddam Hussein, in Nov 1998, ordered the UN arms inspectors out of the country, which resulted in the Clinton administration preparing to launch cruise-missile attacks and air strikes. However, Iraq backed down and the crisis came to an end. Many believe that the Iraqi situation makes the US look weak and foolish, while others believe it is necessary to contain Saddam.
