Don't get tangled up in Web stock scams: fraud rises on Internet
Article Abstract:
Cases of Internet fraud are increasing in direct proportion to the growing number of individuals who are trading stocks online. The SEC has brought on more than 115 fraud cases since the launching of its Internet enforcement program in 1995. Author James Walsh says that people looking for easy money are vulnerable to Internet con artists. Yet California Corporations Dept Enforcement Director Bill McDonald notes that just being online already increases individuals' chances of being fraud targets. A number of suggestions by experts may help investors avoid getting tricked by increasingly sophisticated scams.

Internet instills family values - really
Article Abstract:
American society is not far from the time when whole intellectual and cultural communities are established on the Internet despite being separated geographically. The Internet is allowing people who have common interests and circumstances to 'meet' and form a circle of their own, beyond the circle of the families they were born into, the jobs they go to and the locales where they live. Anyone who says the Internet takes too much time away from 'real life' must, therefore, first consider what real life is.
