'The Sleep Room' in a CBC mini-series about psychiatrist Ewen Cameron's experiments with psychiatric patients in the 1950s and 1960s. CIA partially funded the experiments in which patients were permanently brain damaged of physiologically injured due to being given doses of electroshock, LSD, or curare.

Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan visited Toronto, Ontario, on Sep 15, 1996, in an effort to increase the group's presence in Canada. Around 3,500 people, mostly of Caribbean heritage, attended Farrakhan's speech. Farrakhan lives in the US, but both his parents were born in the Caribbean.
