With environmental issues featuring prominently in the upcoming Australian federal election, grass-roots members of environmental organisations are choosing to link arms in anti-globalisation demonstrations rather than try to broker deals with political parties. These environmentalists are more interested in old-style militant campaigning and are concerned that organizations such as Greenpeace are selling out.

Issues are presented concerning the report into electoral fraud which was conducted by the Shepherdson inquiry in Queensland. Two prosecutions were recommended and a number of resignations resulted.
