The ongoing consolidation of $25-billion-a-year vehicle collision repair industry would result in the booming business ending under control of fewer owners. The trend would end in consolidators owning up to 30% of the market in five years, from 8% in 1999, while controlling around 80% of the collision repair business in the major markets. The consolidation of insurance companies who are expected to cut costs as result of the consolidation, and by investors who see potential profit margins of up to 20%.
