Ford is poised to develop dealer partnership under leadership of future chief executive officer Jacques Nasser. Nasser, who currently heads the firm's automotive operations, is proposing to increase the efficiency of its relationship with company dealers in an effort to better compete in the market. He identifies several stiff-market competition strategies such as efficient product launching, designing and manufacturing, purchase and delivery of products to customers. Nasser will report to William Clay Ford Jr., who will become the next company chairman.

Volvo plans 'attack' on sport-utility market
Article Abstract:
Volvo will introduce a sport-utility vehicle in the US, said Hans-Olaf Olson, the Swedish automaker's US president. Olson said the US sport- utility market of 3 million customers is lucrative enough for the company to overlook. Volvo's sport-utility vehicle will have a Volvo chassis, rather than one from Ford, which formally acquired Volvo after Volvo shareholders approved of the deal on Mar 8, 1999.
