First Place to start paying common share dividends

Real estate company First Place Tower Inc of Toronto, Ontario, has announced that it will start paying dividends annually to holders of its subordinated debentures. The company will pay C$1.85 for every 40-share unit, including a dividend of C$1 and interest of 85 cents. The company started 1999 with an excess of C$32 million as result of its solid financial position and 95% occupancy of its First Canadian Place office tower.

Dundee fails to win backing for realty firm share bid
Article Abstract:
Dundee Bancorp Inc, an investment firm headquartered in Toronto, Canada, has failed to secure the support of the independent directors of the real estate firm Dundee Realty Corp with the former's bid to boost its stake in Dundee Realty from 22% to 39%. In Apr 1999, the two firms reached a deal in principle calling for Dundee Bancorp to acquire as many as 45 mil shares outstanding of Dundee Realty.
