Health and safety
Article Abstract:
The American Journal of Industrial Medicine revealed that farmworkers have 59 percent higher risk of leukemia and a 69 percent higher risk for stomach cancer compared to other Latinos. NIOSH is examining the environmental health risks faced by migrant farmworkers and it is concerned about their poor knowledge of English-language skills due to which they rarely understand their rights and thus allow themselves to expose to working conditions they can legally avoid.
