Letchworth heritage
Article Abstract:
Letchworth Garden City was built by supporters of Ebenezer Howard in the early 20th century. The Letchworth Garden City Corporation was founded in 1962 to manage the estate, but it was felt that because of anomalies in its powers a new body should take over. A parliamentary Bill will be tabled to set up the Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation to continue managing the estate, now worth more than 50 million pounds sterling.

Some sound principles
Article Abstract:
Housing developers should consider acoustics when designing new, or converting old, buildings. Traffic noise should be taken into account when planning site developments. It may be possible to avoid noise problems by design. Acoustic engineers provide advise on any aspect of noise in the building industry. They should be involved with development programmes from early on to avoid unnecessary difficulties, however.
