Imperial Life in talks on Bay financial boutiques
Article Abstract:
Imperial Life Assurance Company of Canada, a Toronto, Ontario-based insurance provider, is in talks to unveil financial services branches in a number of Hudson's Bay Co.'s department stores in the Toronto area. Under the initial plan, three Toronto-area Bay stores will be the new site for pilot outlets of the Financial Ways boutiques, which offer a host of products, such as disability, health, life, travel insurance, as well as RRSPs and educational savings packages. Imperial and Hudson's have not reached an official agreement, but Imperial has recently opened Financial Ways boutiques in three T. Eaton Co. outlets in Toronto.

Manulife settles class action suits in Ontario, BC

Manufacturers Life Insurance Co. of Toronto, Ontario, has sealed an agreement to settle class action lawsuits filed in Ontario and British Columbia over alleged vanishing premium policies. Industry insiders said that Manulife estimates the settlement agreement, which is subject to the approvals of both Ontario and British Columbia courts, to be worth over C$90 million to policy owners. Sources further added that attorneys handling the class action lawsuit in Quebec have not given their agreement to the settlement.
