In quest of Shangri-La
Article Abstract:
American explorer Ian Baker searched the Himalaya Mountains for 5 years in an attempt to discover a location resembling the literary paradise of Shangri-La. Baker believes the description of Shangri-La in James Hilton's 1933 novel 'Lost Horizon' approximates locations in the Tsangpo Gorge, and he did discover an uncharted waterfall but was unable to enter the valley that lay beyond. China has closed the region since Baker's expedition returned.
