The toughest opponent of their lives
Article Abstract:
Olympic figure skater Scott Hamilton was diagnosed with testicular cancer 2 years ago, and doctors found that it had spread to his stomach. He prepared for therapy the same way he prepared for the Olympics, and was back on the ice after 2 months. Other professional athletes such as Lance Armstrong, Darryl Strawberry and Shelley Hamlin have also faced cancer with the same determination as they do their opponents. All are back in competition.

Article Abstract:
The chances for US athletes at the Winter Olympics are discussed. Skiing looks the most doubtful as both US champions are beset with injuries. Figure skating looks brighter with such stars as Michelle Kwan and Tara Lipinski. Bobsledding and luge are strong, but speed skating and hockey is weaker.
