The Australian investors have suffered losses in overseas shares firstly because of heavy toll on returns in mid-2000 and secondly because of a strong rise in dollar. Michael Hutton the head of financial planning at accountancy group HLB Mann Judd explained that it was important to understand the risk-return calculations and the exchange-rate fluctuation for the investors before deciding on how much to invest offshore.

The society has been useful in promoting debate on popular but naive political policy proposals.
