Internet deal leads to job cuts
Article Abstract:
Netscape Communications Corp. has been acquired by America Online for about $10 billion. The acquisition would result in elimination of up to 1,000 jobs, or up to 10% of the merged companies' combined workforce. The new entity will have three main divisions: the Interactive Services Group, the Interactive Properties Group and the Netscape Enterprise Group. In addition, Sun Microsystems Ltd. will pay America Online $1.25 over the next three years to be part of the alliance.

AOL close to takeover of Netscape
Article Abstract:
American Online Inc will acquire NetScape Communications Corp and then license its products to to Sun Microsystems in a three-way stock deal valued at $4 billion. The deal would combine the biggest online service with Netscape, owner of the top Internet gateway site Netcenter and developer of Internet browser software. America Onlie will license Netscape's business software to Sun Microsystem as part of the deal.

Yahoo to buy top Netcast firm
Article Abstract:
Yahoo! Inc, the leading Web portal, is purchasing Broadcast.com in a $5.7- billion stock deal. The acquisition of the top Web broadcaster would put the Santa Clara, CA-based portal on the lead in the Internet video and audio broadcasting business. The deal is expected to see Yahoo! paying around $130 per share for approximately 44 million outstanding shares in Broadcast.com, which employs 300 people.
